The Roof Is Leaking

There has been water leaking from the apartment above me for a little while now. I have told the landlord about it several times, but nothing seemed to be being done. Now, there is a big water stain in the plaster of my bathroom ceiling. So, yesterday, I bypass the real estate company and call the owner directly. Last night he comes out to look at the problem. When he goes upstairs, he discovers that the person living there has literally damaged the tile around the tub... and to top it off, she has a cat. They start yelling at each other... it ends with the owner telling her she's out. She'll be getting a 10 day Notice to be out...

I feel pretty sure she will blame me. I now am having concerns that my car will be damaged or something like that. I'm not sure how she pays her rent, she is up there with 2 kids and she is on house arrest, so never leaves. There also is a strange amount traffic...

Well, I never meant to cause anyone trouble. But, that being said, I might live in a small apartment, but it has always been clean, bug free & well maintained by the owner. I was not putting up with the leak. Even though I outgrown the place & could afford nicer, I never saw the point & hate moving. Besides, that would cut into my golf & vacation budget.

We'll have to see what happens, but it might be time to consider a change.

Couldn't Sleep

Well, I couldn't sleep last night. I woke up about 3AM & just couldn't fall back again. So, what to do??? Might as well post some ramblings on the ol blog...

I know, maybe another "Hanging Out With Stars" story...

As I discussed in Saturday's post, I used to work at a hotel not far from a local large out-door venue for bands. Well, there was one show, again back in the late 80s early 90s (can't remember exactly when). It was a bunch of popular "dance" bands. C & C Music Factory, Girrado (sp?) and Lisa Lisa... I was working the late shift. After the show, when the bands returned to the hotel, they wanted to go to Metropole, a club downtown. They asked if the hotel van could take them. I said the general policy was "no"... but I'd see what I could do. I really had the authority to do it if I wanted, but I had a date with one of the life guards from the pool. So, I call her & ask is she would be interested in going to the privet party room at Metropole with these bands, instead of the movie we had planned. Well, she said sure. Then, I go to the band contact, I tell him, that I have permission to use the van, but I am getting off work & have a date. I will take them in the van only if me & my date can come along for the party. The deal was sealed. She shows up, the band jumps in (what couldn't fit jumped in a cab) and we headed down.

They had called ahead... there was a valet waiting to take the van & we were ushered inside and up to the privet room of the club. There was a large spread of food, all we could drink, a privet dance floor and big windows overlooking the main part of the club. The party was fantastic. We danced in the privet room & down in the club. We ate & drank well. Some of the band members got way too smashed & were actually hurling. They were not allowed back in the van!!! So, about 3 AM, it's time to go.

I drive back. When we get to the hotel, I go in to the front desk & tell them to put a room on maintenance for me. My date & I go up and spend the rest of the night. We had to sneak out the next day... but I had all the pass keys & knew all the back ways...

Now, I know many of you may think I am "stuffy" now, and that is kinda the image I want to portray (MX). But, never doubt, I have had, and will continue to have... my moments!!!

Up Early

I'm up really early so I can ride the bus into downtown this morning.

On top of everything else with my car, I stopped and did a service check/oil change, before dropping it off at the dealer for my fan switch issue (see post below). How weird is that? I need to get my car checked out before I take it in for service!!! I think I am just embarrassed by my lack of ability to maintain my car. I am sure part of it is that I have no place to really work on it. I mean, I can change oil, brakes, stuff like that... but living in my small apartment, there is no place to work comfortably. As for my 2 classic cars, I store them in the large garage of my friend. I actually pay someone to go there and take care of them for me. But, my "everyday" car... it is like pulling teeth to do anything.

Horoscopes??? Do any of you read horoscopes??? As some of you know, me & Donna hit a little bump last week. So, yesterday... I read my horoscope, it says: If you're not getting precisely what you want in the love department -- on your terms, under your timing, and so forth -- you might get bent out of shape. But don't miss out on something unexpected because of it.

Weird. *start twilight zone music*

Car Repairs

Well, I'm gonna have to take the bus into work tomorrow.

I am going to get my car fixed. It is not the biggest problem in the world, but it sure is annoying. The fan for the AC/Heater only works on setting #5 (the highest setting). When Im running the AC, it feels like you're sitting in a wind tunnel. It is really bugging the crap out of me. I tried to see if there was a fuse I could just replace, but no luck. So, I am going to drop the car off before I go to bed tonight & walk back to my apartment. It's not that far. Then, take the bus in the morning. The stop is right there next to me apartment.

Taking the bus in the morning doesn't bother me as much as taking it home in the evening. Now, when I first started working downtown, I took the bus everyday. I was used to it. But, it has been a few years & they have changed the routes all around, so I am no longer sure where to pick it up. We'll just have to see how it goes. I already have a back-up plan... I can catch a ride home from someone at work, if push comes to shove.

So, anyway... it should be fun.

The David Crosby Story

I think I am safe in assuming that most people know who David Crosby is. But, just in case, he is best known as a musician, a member of Crosby Stills Nash & Young. He has also made headlines after he received a liver transplant & was the sperm donor to Melissa Ethridge.

Back in the mid 90s, I was working at a Marriott as the Guest Service Manager. This hotel was the nicest, reasonably close hotel to a local outdoor amphitheatre, so a lot of the bands would stay with us. I had a lot of contact with the bands in my position. My job was to make sure they were happy and had a lot of leeway in accomplishing this.

So, Crosby Stills and Nash check in to the hotel. Shortly after I had the bellmen deliver the bags, I get a call, it is David Crosby. He wants to know if there is a computer store nearby where he could get one of those new mapping programs (yes, they were new back then) written for MAC. I make a few calls; the only one I can find for MAC is all the way down in Greentree. He comes down and asks for a cab. I tell him that I can take him down in my car, if he likes, that way he won’t have to worry about a cab back, because of the time he had to leave for the show. He said that would be cool. So, David Crosby jumps in my Honda Civic and we take off. He was really cool, not stuck-up at all.

We get to the CompUSA and he buys the program. He asks if I have time for lunch… there was a Chi Chi’s right there and he was sick of hotel food. So, we had lunch. Then he wants to walk around the mall a while. We go to the bookstore and he picks up a few paperbacks for on the bus. We go in the music store… he signs a few autographs. There is a musical instrument store that we go in. He picks up a guitar and plays a song. People are all around now and it is getting late. I tell him we better get going or he’ll miss the bus to the venue.

As we are driving back, I put in a CSN cd… Suite Judy Blue Eyes… we are singing it in the car. We are really running late. As we get near the hotel, we can see the busses pulling out. He calls the road manager on his cell phone, who is pissed. David asks if I can just drive him to the venue, I say “sure.” We follow the busses out the show. The busses go through the gate and we pull up. The guard asks to see my pass. I say “I don’t have one, but I have him.” David leans over so the guard can see him, we are let through.

We go around back. He gives me a back stage pass & a seat down front. I hang out back there with the road crew actually playing basketball. There is a big spread of food and a well stocked bar. After I hang out a while and the band has started, I go out, find my seat and watch most of the show. I did venture back stage again, to hit the bar, but it was getting late, I was getting buzzed and I had a long drive home. Time to bolt.

So, that is my David Crosby story. I hung out with him for an afternoon… and even sang a song with him in my little Honda Civic.

The Weekend

Well, the weekend is here.

It should be really dead at work, so I'm thinking of cutting out early, maybe noon/one o'clock(ish)...

I have plans to play golf at Saxon with M, Mike and one of his friends Saturday afternoon. The course is pretty nice and cheap. It is a little on the long side, so it should give me a chance to work on some shots I don't normally use.

Check this out... I might get the chance to play golf at Oakmont County Club in 2 weeks!!! Yes, that's right "THEE" OAKMONT CC!!! For any of you that don't know it, it is one of the nicest golf courses in the entire country. They have played the US Open there a number of times. It is the site for the 2007 US Open. I hear that they have made changes to the course and that the rough is unbelievable. It is so freak'n hard right now, as they prepare it for the Open, but I don't care if a shoot 120, it'll be OAKMONT!!! I will be playing on hallowed ground, walking on the same fairways as Palmer, Nicholas & Woods.

http://www.oakmont-countryclub.org/

I have no plans to hook up with Donna, she's been acting weird all week (which is a shame cuz we have been having such a good time, or at least I thought so).

Sunday, who knows??? I got nuttin!!! That means I might be around blogland a little.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Finishing up the weekend...

Saturday was almost as good as Friday, better in some ways.

Donna & I went over, picked M up, then headed out to Mt. Pleasant. She (M) was picking up a new to her car... a nice zoomer, good gas mileage run-a-bout. We decided to play Norvelt Golf Course, near by. We had the time for breakfast prior to our tee time. I play horrible. Only golfer can understand, why do we torture ourselves with this game? How can I play so well one day (see blog story from Friday) and so bad the next? All 3 of us stopped for a couple beers, then Donna & I came back to my place, relaxed... got cleaned up, then went out for dinner.

Sunday, Father's day. Went to play 9 holes with "the boys"... my young cousins. Then went to my cousin's house for 2 dads, and 3 birthdays. I discussed this before in detail, so I'll spare you all. Donna did not come with me.

Now, I'm just watching the end of the US Open, and getting ready to start another week of work.

Friday Was Great

I had a really good time yesterday.

I picked up my friend M and headed Champion lakes for a golf outing. We were playing in a scramble with 2 others from my firm, D and G. By way of background, last year D, G, I and another guy, J played in a different outing. At that event I played horrible. G got really drunk & was talking shit about my golf game. He was standing next to the barrel of beer saying loudly... "everybody say goodby the Knight, he won't be on the team next year..." The after the outing actually was our firm picnic... I didn't go, but I heard he was talking smack, even drunker the before. So, the next day I was playing at the country club of the managing partner. He was saying some things about the match we were gonna play that didn't make sense to me. After about 2 or 3 holes, he says to me... "I don't know what G was talking about, your game is fine... I thought I was going to be carrying you." Then he spilled the beans of the smack G was talking. This pissed me off. The rest of the round, every time I hit a good shot, I would turn around and say, "where the F is GW!!!"

Yesterday was the first time I golfed with G since. I really wanted to show him up. I did!!!For you non-golfers that read this, in a scramble, everybody in the 4some plays from the same spot, and the team uses the best shot, then moves on and everybody plays from there, and so on. Well, yesterday... our first tee shot... BAM, I crushed it right down the middle!!! It only got better from there. I was pulling all the shots outta my bag... long irons, fairway woods, chip shots, but probably the best was my "7 iron bump & run"... 3 outta 3 I was flawless. I talked shit BIG TIME on G.

Hole number 16 was memorable. It is a really long par 3... 218 yards. The hole was being sponsored by a company called PDG. They has 4 hot girls sitting there passing out cigars. It turns out I know the family of one of the girls. So, while we are waiting for the group ahead of us play the hole, I am chatting the girls up pretty good. (me, chatty???) Anyway, the green clears, I tee up my ball and... BANG, right on the green, closest to the pin, for a prize. The girls gave me a cheer. (G shanked his shot!!!) I couldn't have written it any better.

After the outing, M & I headed back into downtown for the baseball game. The weather was perfect. We met a group of friends at Hi-Tops, across from the ball park. Donna met us there. We went over to the game. The Pirates lost by 1 run, but they lose all the time anyway. But, it was fireworks night. They were cool. Donna & I snuck away from the group for a bit... Just long enough to be noticed, but not long enough to be rude... We stopped at a little bar on the way home for 2 more beers...

I must say, it was a great day. I don't know that I could have scripted it any better.

Thursday, June 15, 2006

Good Morning

I am going to have to get lots of work done today. I am going to be out of the office again tomorrow. There is an ICP Golf Outing I am attending at Champion Lakes Golf Course. (I love this time of year!!!) Hey... I get to be out of the office for a free golf outing, and still get credit for the time as marketing.

Also, after the outing, I have to get back into town for the Pirate game... it is a fireworks night. My friend M bought a block of tickets. Donna is going to be there too with some people from her work. I told her we will need to sneak off for a bit... not long enough to be rude, but just long enough to be noticed. (Hehe)

Saturday, M, Donna & I are going to drive out to Mt. Pleasant, so M can pick up a new car. There is a golf course near there I like, so we will all play it while we are there. I want to spend the rest of the day with just Donna, but M might want to go along. We decided to play it by ear...
Sunday, being father's day, I will be doing the family thing. Donna's son will be with his dad for the day & she is not going to her father's place. She is going to wait for next weekend, when she has L to make the drive up there for a visit.

Do you think it is too soon to invite her over for my family gathering?

Ben's Crash

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Doctors successfully repaired what they said were multiple facial fractures suffered in a motorcycle accident yesterday by Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, but no one would say how his injuries would affect his ability to play.

The 24-year-old quarterback, who was not wearing a helmet, was in serious but stable condition at Mercy Hospital after undergoing seven hours of surgery performed by a team of four surgeons.

Mr. Roethlisberger was injured in an accident at 11:10 a.m. as his motorcycle collided with a car on Second Avenue near the 10th Street Bridge. Witnesses said his head hit the car's windshield and then struck the pavement.

Dr. Daniel Pituch, chief of Mercy's division of oral and maxillofacial surgery, said Mr. Roethlisberger underwent surgery for multiple facial fractures after being evaluated by the surgical team.

"All of the fractures were successfully repaired," he said.

Dr. Pituch would not elaborate further on the quarterback's head injuries. But he indicated that the quarterback did not suffer any other serious injuries.

"His brain, spine, chest and abdomen appear to be without serious injury and there are no other confirmed injuries at this time," Dr. Pituch said.

Dr. Pituch said he did not expect Mr. Roethlisberger's condition to change overnight.

Dr. Harry W. Sell Jr., chairman of surgery at Mercy, said the quarterbacks' family requested that no other information be released about his injuries and doctors declined to answer any questions at a briefing last night.

But Dr. Sell relayed a word of thanks from his family members.

"The Roethlisberger family extends their gratitude for the support, prayers and well wishes that have been pouring into Mercy Hospital," Dr. Sell said.

Although his injuries were serious, onlookers said it could have been much worse. Witnesses said he twice struck his head -- on the car's windshield and then, after flying over the car, on the roadway.

Indeed, the mood at Steelers headquarters later in the day was "reserved optimism." Steelers team president Art Rooney II said he was praying that "Ben's going to make it all right" after arriving last night at Mercy Hospital.

An earlier statement from Mr. Rooney said everyone in the organization was concerned and that, "So far, we have been encouraged by the early reports from the medical team at Mercy Hospital."

Before going into surgery, Dr. Larry Jones of Mercy said the quarterback was talking, was coherent and was cognizant of the situation.

One Steelers source said Mr. Roethlisberger was in surgery for a broken jaw, an injury that can take approximately seven weeks to heal. The Steelers season starts in 12 weeks.

Steelers fans across the region shared concern about the quarterback's condition while debating his judgment in not wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle, especially since he wears one for his occupation.

Steve Mellon, Post-Gazette
Signs of an impact can be seen on an automobile that collided with a motorcycle operated by Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberer yesterday.
Click photo for larger image.
Several fans showed up at the hospital last night to hold a vigil, complete with lawn chairs and a miniature charcoal grill.

A handful of Steelers players also came to the hospital, including backup quarterback Charlie Batch. Coach Bill Cowher came to the hospital about 9:15 p.m. but did not speak to reporters.

The accident scene left little doubt that the late-morning accident in the Bluff involving Mr. Roethlisberger's motorcycle and a Chrysler New Yorker had been horrific. Metal was twisted like licorice. Windshield glass shattered. Blood pooled on the pavement.

In the moments after the accident, onlookers shook their heads in concern. All they could do was hope for the best for the anonymous motorcyclist.

And then reporters arrived and spread the word that the accident victim was someone they all knew. Those who had been there were stunned. Others, who heard the news from the media, made a pilgrimage to the scene where the severely damaged car, demolished cycle, a red hooded sweatshirt, and blood stains gave silent testimony to what had occurred.

Mr. Roethlisberger was riding a 2005 Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle outbound on Second Avenue when a 1996 silver New Yorker driven in the opposite direction by Martha Fleishman, 62, of Squirrel Hill, attempted to turn left onto the 10th Street Bridge in front of the motorcycle.

Mr. Roethlisberger smashed his cycle into the car near the front passenger side. His head crashed into the car's windshield, shattering it and leaving a 6-inch hole. Witnesses said he flew over the car and landed on his head on the pavement. A pool of blood marked the spot long after Mr. Roethlisberger was rushed by ambulance to nearby Mercy Hospital.

A woman who declined to give her name said she saw the accident and ran onto the roadway to help the victim. She didn't know it was the Steelers quarterback until a reporter told her about a half hour later.

"That was him? Oh, my! He did say his name was 'Ben,' " she said, recalling that the injured man knew his name but was so disoriented he didn't know the city he was in. "I told him to lie down. He kept trying to get up."

Others who saw him likewise didn't recognize him because of the injuries he suffered and the large amount of blood that covered his face and head.

Among them was Sandra Ford, a Homewood writer and artist, who had just finished teaching a writing class at the Allegheny County Jail and was waiting for a bus on the Armstrong Tunnels side of Second Avenue. Attracted by the loud exhaust, she noticed a motorcycle approaching from her right ridden by a rugged-looking white man with curly hair.

"He was sailing, like he was enjoying the ride. He was going at a good clip but wasn't going overly fast," Ms. Ford said.

She said as he passed her, she noticed a car turning left in front of him. She said she expected the motorcycle to slow down or even have to slam on the brakes but was blocked from further view by cars traveling inbound. And then she heard a "crunching sound" and saw the motorcyclist fly over the car.

"He was a like a doll someone threw up into the air," Ms. Ford said. "I ran to the scene and he was lying on his back and wasn't moving. I thought he was dead."

And then the victim tried to get up but was calmed down by the unidentified witness and a man who tended to him until medics arrived shortly thereafter. She said she spoke with Mrs. Fleishman who she said told her, "I was watching him approach but he was not looking at me."

Ms. Ford caught her bus but couldn't get the accident out of her mind.

"I felt so badly for that guy. Two seconds can change your life," she said. "And then I get home and turn on the TV and find out it's Ben Roethlisberger and I was really upset then."

Mrs. Fleishman's husband, Martin, confirmed in a telephone interview that his wife was the driver but said the couple didn't want to discuss what happened.

"We really have no statement," Mr. Fleishman said. "We certainly hope everything goes well for Mr. Roethlisberger but we have no other statement. Certainly this is terrible and unfortunate. We hope he has a speedy recovery."

He wouldn't comment on his wife's physical or emotional condition in the wake of the accident other than to say, "She's doing as best as she can."

The car is registered to Mrs. Fleishman and carries Maine license plates. The couple has a summer home in Farmington, Maine.

The city police Collision Investigations Unit is investigating the accident. Both vehicles were towed for further investigative processing. There has not been any determination of the speed of the vehicles and no charges have been filed. The investigation could take several weeks to complete, police said.

Mr. Roethlisberger has been known to ride without a helmet when operating his cycle. Steelers coach Bill Cowher addressed the issue with his starting quarterback in May 2005 after Cleveland Browns tight end Kellen Winslow had a motorcycle accident in suburban Cleveland. Mr. Winslow hit a curb in a parking lot and was ejected from his bike, injuring his knee.

"It's one of those things, where he talked about being a risk-taker and I'm not really a risk-taker, I'm pretty conservative and laid back," Mr. Roethlisberger told the Post-Gazette. "So the big thing is just be careful and that's what we do.

"I think every person that rides is careful. That's the biggest thing, I'll just continue to be careful. I told him we never ride alone, we always ride in a group of people, and I think that makes it more safe."

Mr. Roethlisberger's mother, Ida, was killed in a car accident when he was 8 years old.

Throughout the area, indeed throughout the entire Steeler Nation, concerns were voiced about Mr. Roethlisberger's condition as were some criticisms of his off-field decision-making. While a few fans said it was a personal decision, many were troubled by his not wearing a motorcycle helmet. Still others said he shouldn't have been on a motorcycle in the first place, claiming he had an obligation as a professional football player not to put himself at risk.

"The cautionary note is, everyone should wear a helmet," said Dr. Jack Wilberger, chairman of neurosurgery at Allegheny General Hospital. "If he had a helmet on he might have been able to get up and walk away, take the helmet off and be scared to death, but be fine."

While Mr. Winslow's contract forbade him from riding a motorcycle, Mr. Roethlisberger's contract does not prohibit him from riding motorcycles, even without a helmet. The standard NFL contract prohibits risky behavior, but that is not precisely defined. Pennsylvania repealed its mandatory helmet law in 2003.

"I think that's my own discretion," Mr. Roethlisberger said about not wearing a helmet when he rides. "Obviously, Pennsylvania doesn't think people need to."

During an interview last year, Steelers Hall-of-Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw offered one piece of advice for Mr. Roethlisberger about his motorcycle.

"Ride it when you retire. That's the way I feel. Those things are dangerous."

It's Not Over Yet!!!

It may be Monday morning, but the weekend is not over yet... for me!!!

Yes, that's right, I am taking the day off today.

Saturday, I spent the day with Donna. We had a really good time. She is feeling better. Sorry there KJ, but that is all the details I'll post.

Yesterday was really fun too. As I mentioned before, my friend AC is in town from San Antonio. (btw, AC stands for "ass clown" and the name really fits!!! He's is truly an ass, but in a funny way, not like an ass hole, who is an ass that pisses you off, ya know?)

Now, a few years ago, when I was learning to golf, AC & I went out golfing all the time. He started out giving me 18 strokes per round. One stroke per hole, for you non-golfers. As my game improved, we cut the handicap. Before he left for TX, is was down to 6. The last time we golfed, I kicked his butt, so I had the bragging rights (priceless!!!) till yesterday. I have beaten him outright (not counting the handicap) a few times, maybe 6. He has been talking big shit about playing me, since he was able to play all winter.

So, yesterday, AC, M & I played Madison Club. The course was in really great shape!!! We were not betting or doing an handicapping because it has been so long since we played. Well, I put the biggest ass woop'n on him that I ever have!!! I plastered him by 14 strokes!!! (OUTRIGHT!!!) I really just played within myself. The further the lead got, the harder he pressed, the more he blew-up!!! (we don't really count M in the mix, cuz she plays from the ladies tees, about 1200 yards shorter) Also important to note, is there was no talking shit on my part, until after of course.

After, we went to the Stone Tavern near the course. My friend Denny owns it. Hole in the wall, dumpy local bar, but it's ok. Denny keeps a bottle of Jameson's under the bar for the rare times when I stop in and never charges me for it. (but I buy beers & always leave a huge tip) That is because of a golf outing we were at a few years ago... another story for another day. Needles to say, I left there drunk. M & I then went for Chinese dinner. I did call Donna when I got home for a little while, then passed out.

So today will be another big golf day. AC, Dale, M & I are playing Cedarbrook. 36 holes, 2 rounds of golf on 2 different courses. AC is looking for revenge!!!. I have to get in the shower here in about 20 min.

Have a good blog day & otherwise!!! Wish me luck in sending AC back to TX with his tail between his legs!!! If I am not too drunk, I'll pop on blogger when I get home & see how everyone is doing today.

OK, How Strange Am I???

I have been awake since, like 2:30 AM... (it's about 4:40 AM when I started typing this)

I got home from Cleveland yesterday about 3:30 PM. Skipped lunch so I could get home faster. I was so tired, I was falling asleep while driving back. I stopped and drank 3 beers before I went back to my apartment. There was a message from Donna. She has been not feeling well. Her iron has been really low... Thursday, she went to the hospital & got 2 pints of blood. Anyway, I called her back & we talked for a while. By now I am really hungry, so I ate. So now, it's like 5:30-6 PM... I put a CD book in & fall asleep. So, the next thing I know, it's 2:30 AM, I am wide awake & can't fall back asleep.

I goofed around on the internet, read all 200 some comments on KJ's blog, etc... Next thing you know, i am doing laundry and mopping the bathroom floor... my sleep schedule is going to be so F'd up now...

Busy Few Days Ahead

I will be a little busy the next few days, just wanted to let everyone know so no one worries or makes lists...

Friday, I have to drive to the far side of Cleveland for a deposition. 3 hours there & 3 hours back, for a 2 hour depo. I picked up a new book on tape for the drive.

Saturday, I have plans to spend the day with Donna.

Sunday, I am playing golf. My friend AC will be in town from San Antonio. We are going to play Madison Club. A nice course. Right now, it will be AC, me & M. I am still looking for a 4th. Any takers???

Monday, we are doing a big-ol-day-o-golf. AC, M, D & I are going to play 36 holes at Cedarbrook. They have a special, $60 for 2 rounds of golf, one on the Gold course & one on the Red. Plus, they throw in a basket of balls for the driving range & lunch. So, we play the Gold course at 9AM, then the Red course at 2 PM. It should be a good time.

I will likely have some time to blog here and there, now that I have internet at home.

Weekend Report: 6/3-6/4

The weekend was pretty good again this weekend.

Friday, after work, I has few beers with some of my co-workers. I don't usually hang out with people from work, and this was a perfect example of why. I heard all the gossip I'd just rather not hear... A, who is going through a divorce, has been bragging about how, after the property settlement, she could buy a million dollar house, CASH. Well... she was printing it up when we were experiencing network problems... so, of course, it printed where it shouldn't... Then, there is my holy zealot christian do-gooder secretary, K. Discussing in the copy room, where you have to speak loud over the 3 copy machines, how her new fiancee has got her hooked on a new sex toy... she was a little apprehensive at first, but now she's really into it (TMI at work, ya know?) Time to get outta there...

I then met Donna at Dave & Busters. This place is like a Chucky Cheeze for adults. We ate, drank and played games. We even "made out" like high school kids sitting in this video game with a curtain around it...

Saturday, I was nursing a bit of a hangover. Donna & I played 9 holes of golf at Grandview. This course is one of the hardest in the area. It is cut into a hill side and any mistake is costly. I played pretty well for the first 3 holes, 2 over par, but then it started raining. So we went to the bar to wait it out. 2 beers later we went back out. It reminded me why I don't drink while playing golf. It got ugly. We then went to eat dinner. I wanted to go to a new Mad Mex, but the line was too long & I was hungry, so we slide over to Damon's.

Sunday was the day for me to do the family thing for my birthday. We played 9 holes of golf with the boys. It is hard to play with kids, who really don't know how to play... but we struggled through. We then went back to my cousin L's place. We had hambugers & hot-dogs, corn on the cob & potato salad. I got a few gifts, but basically tell my family not to get me anything. I got 5 ties, a golf shirt, a belt, some kitchen stuff... and a toy to play with the kids. Has any one seen these soft plastic BB guns, the kids are playing with these days? You wear goggles to protect your eyes and shoot each other. The BBs sting if you get hit, but they really don't hurt. (they are bio-degradable too) So, we were running around the back yard shooting each other. Now, they can run better than me, but I am a better shot. Plus, their guns only hold 12 shots, the one I got holds 24. So, what I lacked in mobility, I made up for in fire power!!! All in all, it was a fun day, but those kids wore me out!!!

Well, back to work...

THANK YOU

Thanks to all my blog friends for the Birthday wishes.

despite being a "work day," ... all in all, it was a good day.

I received regular mail cards, e-cards and well wishes from many great people. They toned down the usual work place stuff as I requested. I was to play golf at the club of one of the partners from work, but he recently had knee surgery, so was on IR. We left work & drank instead.

I was actually home pretty early, as we started drinking early & I wanted to be able to function at work today.

This weekend, I am doing the "family thing" on Sunday. I am taking the boys golfing, then dinner with the rest of the family.

Anyway, thanks again.
